Indian railways - something I have learnt
Somethings that i have learned through my travel journeys..
1. Always make a I ticket if you are buying it in Waiting, at least you will be able to board the train. Otherwise the TT is bound to pain you and you end up paying more.
2. If you are seeing waiting status in online reservation, try the station - sometimes u may be lucky to get the ticket. [ has happened me in the past ]
3. For elders there is special quota, so chances to get it at the station despite waiting list is very high.
4. Similar thing applies to women also
5. Try splitting your tickets into elderly, women and rest if all of them are not working out.
6. One can change his boarding point to anywhere before the Chart is prepared. This can be done by visiting nearby railway station
7. Do not hesitate to pull the chain, if you see someone in problem or some luggage is not boarded on the train. First get in and pull the chain. [ I have used this 3 times and all for good reasons ]
8. Try boarding your train from the side bogey if there is much rush on the bogie u r supposed to board to. this will be much convenient.
9. Use Elderly car or Wheelchair if elderly people are travelling with you.
10. Always buy a platform ticket, they will catch u for sure.
11. Try to book from the starting station and change the boarding point to your station if you are not able to get tickets confirmed
12. Try 2nd Tier AC, sometimes its very easy to get it, irrespective of other classes.
