Harischandrachi Factory - India's pride at the Oscars 2010
This is a very lively marathi movie and a must watch for everyone, how our great Dada saaheb Phalke embarked on the journey of making the 1st cinema of Hindustan... How his "halte chitra" ended up being the pratham chal chitra of indian movie industry Bollywood, one of the biggest in the world.
It has all elements a movie is supposed to have - The initial introduction, very old photos of mumbai and area around, is very nostalgic taking us away in the black and white past [ building up the environment for an awesome movie ], humor in every scene, One will never feel like going away from the movie for a second... A very careful selection of characters, casual dialogue delivery and the simplicity in which things have been enacted is worth praising. Acting is very natural and clearly portrays the difficult times through which Dada Saaheb went and the composure he maintained on this forhead [ kuch bhi shikan nahi ]
Those two sweet kids(balachandra and ??), mishi wali taramati, nanu aaji, shivji, Prof. KelPak, Vishwamitra bhau, lokhandi rakshash all were just too good. The quest for finding the right Taramati, everyone trying their best to get into their characters, doing all kinds of ajeeb harkatein... Stree party(men groups who are supposed to play part of a woman) doing all stree type work like patre ghalene, swampakata madati karil, laamb kesh thewne, mishi kaapne... It was just too hilarious.
Hats of to PhaleSaaheb and the entire cast/crew for making such a nice film. I am sure this will be India's Shaan and is definitely worth to get one in the Oscar race...
Some dialogues which kept making me laugh all throughout the movie...
"Hey vachan palnare Harishchandra, aani.. tumhi Taramati... anhi amhi doghee rohidas..
Nighto baba, tujhya kade taramati aahe, majhya kade kalimata"
Names for Cinema - "photo malika, pardya varcha natak, halati chitra, nahi nahi... chitra halti, foto foto - pan haalte chalte..."
Prof. kel phaak [ ohh... phaa la ke, ke la phhak ]
[Small kids enacting Harishandra play i their nukkad]
{Vishwamitra} - me tumchi parikhsha pahnaar aahe..
{Rohidas} - mhanje the aaplyala shadet(school) ghalnar ahe...
{HarishchandraRaja} - pariksha nahi re.. satwa pariksha...
[Phalke saaheb starts selling home stuff/furniture to seek more avenues for money, so that he can make his halti chalti foto. In this, the 1st home furniture is the Kapat...
{OneOfTheRelatives } - Kapatacha kadala,
{FalkeSaaheb} - tervicha kadavto
{FalkeSaaheb} - photo kadla ki camera mansachi shakti shoshun gheto ani manus marto....
[Carefully watch the scene here, its too funny in the way taramati replies, jamke ithlati hue bolti hai.. He He]
{PhalkeSir} - taramtai chya misha kai aahet asun Ka adchan aahe... taramati urf krushana salunkhe ..
{Taramati Mishi wali} - vadil jeevant astana mishi kapat nahi na??
{PhalkeSir} - Taramati stree hoti na, tila mishi kasi asel..
{Taramati Mishi wali} - Kahi kahi baykana asti na... thodisi,
{PhalkeSir} - mhanun harishchandra muddam mishi wali rani karel ka aani vadya
{FalkeSaaheb} - "Pudchi vakye... khara shankar yeun mhannar ahe??"
{1st casting of the movie}Bola haltya chitrnachya, vijay hoo, chala aata kutra firakla nasta, asa kuni mhanu shaknar nahiroj yete thi, bhintivar...
